  Lint Free Blotting for Slot Pin, Glass Slide & Robot Pin Tools

 
 


One of the most important aspects of using pin tools is to keep the pins clean so they will consistently deliver the same volume and also to quickly and efficiently remove the previous transfer from the pin.  Lint free blotting paper is important in the cleaning all of our Slot Pin Replicator pins and Glass Slide Replicator pins as lint particles in the slots will interfere with the loading and unloading of liquid in the slots.  Our lint free blotting paper (VP 522) is cut to 80 mm by 115 mm so it can be used by all of our Replicators.  Just place one sheet of the VP 522 on top of stack of absorbent towels or our special absorbent VP 540DB1 pads and blot.  The VP 522 can be used many times before it needs to be replaced.   The VP 522 are 10/package, and the VP 522-100 are 100/package for bulk discount purchases.

  ROBOT WASH AND BLOT STATIONS

     
 


R
obot pin tools must be cleaned using the least amount of precious work station space.  We provide a robot  wash stations that are adapted so the blotting station is part of the washing station thus reducing the cleaning cycle time and the number of robot stations required for the cleaning process.

     


  Combination Single Reservoir  96 Blotting Station

     
 


Pin tools must be washed in 2 liquid reservoirs between different source plates so the pins don't contaminate the next source plate they are placed into. This process can be streamlined and simplified using our unique Combination Reservoir and Blotting System (Patent pending). Combining the blotting station (VP 540AC) on top of the wash reservoir not only reduces the cycle time but more importantly reduces the number of precious robot station positions that are needed to clean the pins from 3 to 2.   

We use locating holes in the Blotting Media to position and immobilize it precisely on the station.

 
 


  Combination Singles Reservoir 384 Blotting Station

If cycle speed and number of robot station positions are not important in your system, we also offer a solid lint free blotting media (VP 540D) that has notched corners so it fits into an Omni Tray (VP 413). The Omni Tray has a foot print of 127.7 mm long by 85.5 mm wide (SBS standard) and the VP 540D solid blotting media measures 114 mm long and 74 mm wide. Just place the solid blotting media into an Omni tray and use in conjunction with 2 VP 540 single wash reservoirs to clean the pin tool.   The VP 540D comes 10/package, and the VP 540D-100 comes 100/package for bulk discount purchases.

  Heavy Duty Blotting System

     
 


The heart of our Heavy Duty Blotting System (VP 540DB) is a super absorbent polypropylene pad that will hold up to 27ml of fluid before it is saturated.  The pad comes in an Omni Tray with a single VP 540 Lint-Free paper on top.  The blotted liquid is transferred from the Lint-Free paper to the pad and a barrier holds it in the pad.   This super absorbent pad means you don't have to change blotters frequently.  Runs of over 1000 blots or plates are possible even with 1536 pin tools.  The VP 540DB comes 10/package, and the VP 540DB-100 comes in 10 packages of 10/package for bulk discount purchases.

The super absorbent polypropylene pad (VP 540DB1) can also be purchased separately and used with plate lids and the lint free paper if you want to save money.  The VP 540DB1 comes 10/package, and the VP 540DB1-100 comes 100/package for bulk discount purchases.

  C Flap Lint Free Paper

  Variety Of Transfer Membranes Precut to Fit Omni Trays

 
 


There are several different methods of culturing colonies on transfer membranes for membrane hybridization assays. We offer Pall Biodyne® B Nylon membranes notched to fit in Omni Trays or on the agar surface of Omni Trays.  See  tables below describing membrane characteristics.

We also offer precut wicking paper (VP 540D) to substitute for agar in the Omni Trays.  The wicking paper is saturated with nutrient broth and overlaid with a notched transfer membrane, inoculated and cultured. This latter method has the advantage of eliminating non-specific background due to agar binding to the membrane.

 

 
         

  Blotting Paper and Absorbent Pad for Hand-Held Blocks

 
 

V&P’s Flick & Blot Hand-Held Magnetic Separation Blocks allow for rapid evacuation of liquid from microplates after separation is achieved. One key step in the process after most of the liquid has been “Flicked” from the wells is to “Blot” the remaining bits of liquid. Our Lint-Free Blotting Paper in conjunction with our Absorbent Polypropylene Pad is an economical setup to ensure the remaining liquid is wicked from the wells of the microplates while avoiding any liquid messes.
