Alligator Vertical Tumble
Stirrers were set to 100 RPM, microplates were filled with 200 ul of
water, deep well blocks were filled with 1.5 ml of water, one stir
element was added to each well. In order to be counted as
positive stirring all the stir elements in the plate had to exhibit
vertical tumbling or in the case of Stir StiXs back and forth movement.
In order to error on the side of under claiming we subtracted 2
microplates (28 mm in stirring height) from each of the totals on
microplates and 1 plate (42 mm in stirring height) from each of the
totals on the deep well blocks. These are thus very
conservative estimations.
The
data shows that the relative position of the plate to magnetic cylinder
is important to the height that plates can be stacked and still be
stirred.
The deck of VP 710S-2, magnetic
cylinder runs directly under positions 1, 2 and 3.
